Meet the Team

I am fully insured  and licensed and offer a free meeting session to discuss a tailor made plan to suit your schedule and budget.

I look forward to hearing from you!

I spent a few years actively involved with a dog training group, looking at basic obedience, remedial training for behaviour problems, and agility, after which I became a certified dog trainer with the APDT (UK) - Association of Pet Dog Trainers UK - and completed a Masters degree course in Clinical Animal Behaviour from the University of Lincoln.

We understand that your pets are very important to you, and that some may have a routine that they are used to. We work hard to maintain any routine you have in place so as not to upset your pet. For example, if your cat is used to having half an hour in the garden before tea, we can accommodate that.

I founded 'Like My Own' in January 2013, after completing a BSc in Equine Science at the University of Lincoln, during which time I worked with a dog walking company in Lincoln.

I always wanted a career working with animals and have years of experience in the field, working at kennels, catteries, stable yards and as a dog walker and pet sitter. During this time I developed many skills that enable me to adhere to the needs of the animals I'm with and keep them safe.

I currently have two sociable dogs, Harvey and Lexi, two cheeky horses, Charlie and Dibs, and two rats, Hattie and Mabel.

I would have no hesitation in recommending Jess to anyone and I shall certainly be a returning customer from now on.

Working alongside me are a very dedicated small team, comprising of my husband, Jamie, my mum and dad, and two fellow dog lovers, Hannah and Graham. I first met Graham through working with his dog, Kaleesi, and Hannah spent a week with us on work experience while at college. When we reached a point where we needed extra help I had no hesitation in asking them to join our team.

All of the team are trained to be able to have a strong relationship with all of the dogs that come into our care.
